The Israel C. Carmel Archive Committee meets every Tuesday morning, as it has since 1996, to collect, catalogue and rehouse Congregation Albert’s records, historical documents, photographs, and artifacts. The Archive Committee is also responsible for the various historical and photo displays in the temple building.
In addition, this past year, the Archive committee worked with authors, researchers, students and journalists looking for information about Congregation Albert and the Albuquerque Jewish community. The committee put together a presentation of historical information and photographs that will be used in the video display in the lobby. We assisted the staff in researching information about congregants past and present. We were also able to answer internet inquiries about congregants, and assist two different families from different parts of the country who were looking for Albuquerque relatives.
The committee would be delighted to train interested individuals who would like to learn more about the work of the Archive, and the fascinating history of Congregation Albert. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Judy Basen Weinreb.
